PGC Member Wins at Ottawa Little Theatre’s 84th Annual One-Act Playwriting Competition
Rosaleen Egan was honoured to receive the Dorothy White Award for her one-act drama, Somebody/Anybody, through the Ottawa Little Theatre’s 84th Annual One-Act Playwriting Competition.
This year’s competition received 68 submissions from across the country, the most in the history of the competition. The winners were announced in June.
Adjudicators’ comments about Somebody/Anybody include:
“…very well written, believable, and provocative, as it explored the importance of not
dehumanizing the homeless through the lens of good investigative and compassionate
journalism. Two important themes intertwined to illustrate and promote that ideal, by
pushing a journalist to explore and tell the story of one homeless man. An ambitious goal,
beautifully achieved.”
“…Interesting dialogue and clever staging potential.”
Congratulations, Rosaleen!
Four short plays written by Egan are available through the Canadian Play Outlet HERE.
