MADGEN Theatre Festival – DEADLINE: 2026/04/30

Theatre of the Beat (TOTB) is currently accepting play submissions for their 2026 MADGEN Theatre Festival.

TOTB is seeking new, one-act plays with a social justice focus - either exploring socially engaged topics, and/or featuring community-centered perspectives. Plays must be first draft ready, approximately 30-60 minutes in length (submissions must be under 65 pages in length), and written by Canadian playwrights. Only one submission per playwright will be accepted. Script submissions must be accompanied by a separate cover letter, both sent in PDF form. Cover letters should include: a brief artist statement about who you are, a brief summary of the play and why you think it fits within MADGEN’s community-centred and socially-engaged mandate, and must include an outline of any previous workshopping the piece has had (including dates, development partners, or the names of any creatives involved). All submissions meeting these requirements will be reviewed, however, only a maximum of 4 scripts will be selected. Due to the volume of submissions, we will not be able to provide feedback on submissions.
