Scripting Intimacy by Rebecca Lashmar
January 1, 1970 @ 12:00 am
This workshop will be an explorative, open conversation about what intimacy professionals look for in the text to bring scenes of intimacy to life. We will cover a brief introduction to what intimacy directors/coordinators do, as well as explore a brief history of stage directions and their impact over time. Also, we will look at the use of the stage direction as a collaborative, communicative tool between writer, actor and artistic team. What are the things that intimacy professionals look for in both stage directions and dialogue and how can we as writers provide more comprehensive, but not prescriptive, scenes of intimacy for stage and screen? The goals of this workshop are to approach writing scenes of intimacy with a collaborative, expressive and comprehensive mindset and expand the writer’s mindset of what intimacy can be and how it is staged.
