Please check off all boxes to confirm that you understand and will comply. If you don’t have music in your play, please still check that box as that item is complete for your submission. If your submission contains errors or is incomplete, it will not be considered for an award.
Reading Feature. As an augment to the Tom Hendry Awards 2026, the three (3) finalists of the Emerging Playwright Award may be invited have a short segment of their nominated work featured in a public reading. (location and dates yet to be determined, likely Fall 2026 or Winter 2027) The selected artists would be paired with directors and actors in preparation for the reading. The playwrights are invited to attend the reading and participate in a Q & A with the audience following the readings. Any travel expenses would be covered by PGC. The recipients will be announced at the Tom Hendry Awards event in October 2026.*
Please indicate your preference to opt in or out of the Public Reading feature. This program is funding dependent. PGC has been able to offer it in prior years and is in discussion with partners and sponsors.
The Canadian PlayOutlet: We encourage you to submit your play to the PGC's Play Distribution Program, making your play available in digital format for sale through the Canadian Play Outlet (canadianplayoutlet.com). Details are online. (https://playwrightsguild.ca/play-distribution-program/ ). There is no obligation to participate in the Play Distribution Program.*
This program is free of charge to the playwright. PGC members earn royalties (25% of sales). Lapsed members earn royalties (10% of sales). Royalties are calculated annually.
Performance Rights: Are performance rights available for your play? If anyone inquires about producing your play, we would like to provide some information on the performance rights.*
Amateur Rights: We would encourage you to read the details online for PGC’s Amateur Performance Rights Program. (https://playwrightsguild.ca/amateur-performance-rights/). There is no obligation to participation in the program. If you wish to proceed, you must submit through the members dashboard.
