Aunt Harriet premieres this fall!
Directed and devised by award-winning PGC member HAUI™
Featuring theatre pioneer ahdri zhina mandiela

Aunt Harriet is a musical moving portrait and spoken-word elegy, exploring memory, myth, and Black healing through image, sound, and verse.

Inspired by the life of Harriet Miller, a singer from Wellington County who spent her final years at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Guelph, the work honours a nearly forgotten voice from Ontario’s past.

Informed by the research of Dr. Jade Ferguson and Deirdre McCorkindale, with contributions from St. Joseph’s Health Centre and Guelph Museums, this multidisciplinary piece weaves history with transcendence, inviting audiences into a space of remembrance and reimagining.

Commissioned by the City of Guelph, produced by Public Domain Theatre, co-produced by b current performing arts co.
Supported by the Ontario Arts Council.
