Audio plays by Patti Flather & Leonard Linklater launched
Award-winning playwrights Patti Flather and Leonard Linklater have launched audio play adaptations of two stage plays with Yukon Digital Theatre Collective. Pieces of Paradise is an inspiring audio play about four humans moving beyond adversity to find hope and connection, helped by their animal witnesses—two dogs, a snake and a warbler. Patti adapted it from her stage play Paradise, which toured nationally and is published.
Leonard adapted Sixty Below as an audio play, based on the stage play he co-wrote with Patti. Through the lens of young Yukon First Nations people, Sixty Below explores impacts of colonization on Indigenous people in today’s North, along with survival and resilience. Sixty Below received seven Dora Award nominations for its production with Native Earth Performing Arts and toured the North. Pieces of Paradise is directed by the playwright, and Sixty Below is directed by Reneltta Arluk.
Both are available free online at yukondigitaltheatrecollection.com and on various podcast platforms and feature the creative contributions of artists from the Yukon and across Canada. They join two other original digital works from Yukon Digital Theatre Collective from playwright Wren Brian and storyteller Lillian Nakamura Maguire.
