Sheilah Spurr was a gifted storyteller and compassionate soul whose life bridged nursing, theatre, and nature. Her career as a nurse gave her deep insight into the human experience, which she brought to her writing and stage work. A passionate contributor to the arts in Owen Sound, Sheilah was a beloved member of the Owen Sound Little Theatre, where she acted, directed, and supported productions behind the scenes.

Her debut full-length play, Gorgeous Gallivanting Goddesses, premiered at the Roxy Theatre to acclaim, praised for its emotional depth and authenticity. Trained at the New School of Drama in Toronto, Sheilah’s artistic voice was shaped by mentor Tony Pearce. She lived in Owen Sound with her spouse Wayne and found joy in backcountry paddling, which inspired her writing. Her legacy lives on in the stories she shared and the lives she touched, reminding us of art’s power to heal, connect, and transform.
