Aaron Rothermund was born in Ottawa. They lived in Nova Scotia, British Colombia, Saskatchewan, and throughout Ontario. In fact, they spent three years as part of the Toronto Islands community living on Algonquin Island and creating theatre on Ward’s Island. Aaron wrote and directed two one-act plays for the Toronto Fringe Festival. His first play, Ambiguous won the Trey Anthony Award for artistic merit and his follow up play, Charming Monsters, received multiple reviews and has since been developed into a full-length play. Aaron also graduated from the Advanced Filmmaking (or Script to Screen) program from Centennial College with Honors. During this time, they wrote and directed two short film scripts: Power Lines and Love Wins. Aaron’s third film, Respect premiered at the Hamilton Film Festival, and Aaron was given an honorable mention from the Montreal Independent Film Festival. During quarantine, Aaron wrote and directed the micro-short film Going Solo, which premiered at The Isolation Film Festival, and The First Step, which was supported by the Toronto Arts Council and VideoCabaret.
