Janis Rapoport
Born and raised in Toronto, Janis Rapoport has lived elsewhere in Canada as well as in Switzerland, the U.K. and Peru. She is the award-winning author of five books of poetry and has also written short fiction and three plays including Dreamgirls that has been performed across Canada and in French translation in Quebec and telecast in part on TV Ontario. Her other English-language writing has been published in Spanish, French and Japanese and excerpts have been broadcast on CBC Radio, Pacific Radio Network in California and CPN Radio in Lima, Peru. Janis is a creative-writing instructor emerita at the University of Toronto’s School of Continuing Studies, has been playwright in residence at the Banff Centre and the Tarragon Theatre and writer-in-residence at four Ontario libraries. Her literary archive has been deposited in the E.J. Pratt Library, Victoria University within the University of Toronto.
