Stephen Orlov is an educator and a multiple award-winning dramatist, whose plays have been showcased in such theatre centres as London, Chicago and Montreal. He co-edited with Gaza-born and Melbourne-based acclaimed Palestinian playwright, Samah Sabawi, Double Exposure: Plays of the Jewish and Palestinian Diasporas. This first English-language anthology worldwide of drama, prose or poetry by Jewish and Palestinian writers was awarded CATR’s biannual best English-Canadian anthology. His hit plays include, among others, Freeze, Birthmark, Isolated Incident (with Rahul Varma), and Sperm Count. Stephen has served on board executives of Playwrights Guild of Canada and Playwrights’ Canada Press, as president of Playwrights’ Workshop Montreal and chairperson of Humanities Department of John Abbott College. He leads workshops and masterclasses on playwriting and script adaptation, more recently for Quebec Drama Federation and Playwrights Guild of Canada. He is now polishing Engagement, the third play of his Jewish and Palestinian diaspora trilogy.
