Cheryl McNamara
Cheryl McNamara is a queer, Toronto-based writer who originally hails from the west coast. Her play for young audiences, Water Wonder, about our deep connection to nature, was part of Carousel Players’ 2019/2020 touring season. The play originally performed outdoors at the 2016 Toronto Fringe Festival.
The Dick’s a Dame (co-written with Jane Moffat) and The Dizzy & Dale Chronicles performed at the Toronto Fringe Festival with the former performing a second run at the Tim Sims Playhouse. She is currently working on a play adapted from Prison Notes by Barbara Deming.
Her short stories, “The Map” and “The Lantern Path” are published in Freefall Magazine and Hypertext Magazine, respectively.
Cheryl is also a human rights and ecological justice activist. She founded the Toronto chapter of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby.
