Paul McLaughlin
Paul McLaughlin has had three plays produced professionally on stage – Jacques Plante and the Parkdale Knitting League, Whole in One, (both winners of the Canadian National Playwriting Competition; they both premiered at the Toronto Fringe.) and Corporate Rules. Jacques Plante also won the CBC Radio/Quebec Playwrights Drama Federation Award and was broadcast on the national network. The Umpire’s New Clothes and Head Games (a five part series) were also produced on CBC Radio Drama. A highly experienced writer and broadcaster, Paul has written about a dozen books, including two on how to interview (he was the CBC interviewing trainer for many years). His most recent book is The Suicide Magnet: Inside the Battle to Erect a Safety Barrier on Toronto’s Bloor Viaduct (Dundurn Press) was a finalists for the Toronto Book Awards and the Heritage Toronto Book awards. An adjunct professor, Paul has taught at Carleton University’s and Ryerson University’s School of Journalism. He currently teaches in the Professional Writing Department at York University.
