Paul McLaughlin
Paul McLaughlin has had two plays performed at Lunchbox Theatre: Jacques Plante and the Parkdale Knitting League and Whole in One, both winners of the Canadian National Playwriting Competition. Both premiered at the Toronto Fringe. Jacques Plante also won the CBC Radio/Quebec Playwrights Drama Federation Award and was broadcast on the national network. Other plays include Corporate Rules for Solar Stage, and The Umpire’s New Clothes and Head Games for CBC Radio Drama. A highly experienced writer and broadcaster, Paul has written about a dozen books, including two on how to interview (he was the CBC interviewing trainer for many years). His most recent book is The Suicide Magnet: Inside the Battle to Erect a Safety Barrier on Toronto’s Bloor Viaduct (Dundurn Press). An adjunct professor, Paul has taught at Carleton University’s and Ryerson [since renamed Toronto-Metropolitan] University’s schools of journalism. He currently teaches in the Professional Writing Department at York University.
