George M. Johnson is an award-winning activist and writer whose comedy Still Life With Nudes
has won several awards, including the National Playwriting Competition (Canada). Look Up,
America, a satire on brand control and environmental collapse, was short-listed for the Tennessee
Williams One-Act playwriting Competition, among others. His expressionist play, Mockus was
a finalist in the Austin Film Festival Stage Play Competition and was produced by Chimera
Theatre, as was his eco-comedy, Boomerangst. As a tele/screenplay, Boomerangst won Best
T.V. Pilot in the Wiki Screenplay Contest, among others. A show song, “Climate Crisis” can be

competitions, including The Hampdenshire Wonder. His picture books, including How Hope
Became An Activist have also won recognition. Johnson received the YMCA Peace Medal in
2019. He is Professor of Creative Writing at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, B.C.,
Canada.
