Mike Griffin

Originally from BC, Mike Griffin has worked across Canada as a director, playwright, and theatre educator. Mike holds a BFA in Acting and a BEd in teaching Drama and English from the University of British Columbia. As well, he has a Master of Fine Arts in Directing from the University of Calgary and further international training in Commedia, mask, physical theatre and voice/movement. He currently teaches at Brock University in the areas of acting, directing, devising, movement, mask and Commedia dell’Arte. He has written and adapted numerous plays, including two Commedia dell’Arte plays, The Wooers’ Woods, which he developed with Calgary Young People’s Theatre, and Pantalone’s Palace, which premiered at Brock University. Mike’s most recent play, The Mysterious Mind of Molly McGillicuddy, explores mind-traumatic brain injury and related mental health issues through physical theatre and mask. Mike’s plays often focus on the exploration of physical storytelling.
