Born in Kingston, raised in Ottawa and Vancouver and currently based out of Toronto, Katherine Gauthier is an award-winning actor, director and writer, working on some of Canada’s most venerated stages including the Shaw Festival, Crow’s, Arts Club, Théâtre La Seizième and over a dozen productions at Soulpepper. As an actor, Katherine has received four Dora Award nominations (including Outstanding Performance Female), one MyEntertainmentWorld Award nomination (Outstanding Performance Female) and two Jessie Award nominations (including Outstanding Lead Performance). As a writer, her plays include Meeting, Baptism, and Open Mic, and two short films, including Slamdance Top 3 finalist Meatbaby and the Cayle Chernin Award-winning film Age of Consent. A graduate of Nightwood’s WriteFromTheHip program and the Soulpepper Academy, Katherine was the 2020-2021 Theatrefront’s Playwright-In-Residence and is the 2024-2025 recipient of Tarragon’s Bulmash-Siegel New Creation Development award for her play Memento Mori [working title] about society’s relationship to death.
