Heather Debling

Born in Etobicoke, Heather Debling is a fiction writer and playwright now based in Stratford, Ontario. A workshop presentation of The Maple Leaves, a WWI drama based on real-life concert party groups, premiered at SpringWorks, Stratford’s juried indie theatre and arts festival, where it received two awards: “Best of SpringWorks 2013 (Adult Programming)” and “Best Marketing Campaign.” The play was also part of the piece/meal reading series at the Magnetic North Theatre Festival in 2010 and received an honourable mention in the 2011 Herman Voaden National Playwriting Competition. Her other plays include The Antigone Project, Munro and Son, and The Salvation Business. Her fiction has appeared in The New Quarterly, Agnes and True, The Antigonish Review, and Room. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia and is also a creative writing instructor, developmental editor and writing coach who helps writers embrace their unique visions and creative processes.
