Heather trained in Canada and the UK, working in the UK & Europe for eighteen years, including London’s West End, regional theatres, national tours and three years at the Royal Shakespeare Company. She spent two seasons as Artistic Associate at the Grand Theatre in London, ON and six years as the first Artistic Director of the multi-discipline Ryga Arts Festival, while also writing, adapting, and directing theatre. She holds a BFA, Theatre (Metropolitan University, Toronto), Diploma in Acting (Webber Douglas, London, UK) and MFA in Theatre, Directing (York University, Toronto).

Directing credits include: Colours in the Storm, Ring of Fire: the music of Johnny Cash, Cinderella, Calendar Girls; Footloose, Anything Goes, The Little Prince (Grand Theatre, London, ON); Shirley Valentine (Persephone Theatre, Canada); Women Beware Women, Macbeth, Pericles (Stratford Festival Canada, Education); Ladies of the CNR (Martingale Prods); Special (WAM, USA) .

A passionate adapter, Heather’s adaptations include, Clara Callan (film; co-adapter Rick Whelan), Judith: memories of Lady Pig Farmer (Blyth Festival, ON); A Christmas Carol (Theatre Northwest, BC), Night Desk (SpringWorks, ON), and Toronto Noir (Summerworks, ON) .

Original plays include: Is That All There Is? (Riverside Studios, UK), Shakespeare’s Saints and Sinners (Creation Theatre, UK), Mary’s Camera (Ryga Arts Festival, BC), and Silverfish (SpringWorks, ON).
