Maurice Breslow
Born and raised in Boston, he came to Canada in 1973. Educated at Cornell, Tufts, and Yale School of Drama. His plays for both young adult and adult audiences have had numerous professional productions in both Canada and the U.S., including Canada’s Theatre New Brunswick, Carousel Theatre, Stage Polaris, Thousand Islands Playhouse, and Theatre Kingston; and, in the U.S., at the renowned Long Wharf Theatre. His short stories have been published in both countries. Before coming to Canada, he was a director in U.S. regional theatre, including a period as Associate Artistic Director at Long Wharf Theatre. From 1973 to 2000, was a professor of Drama at Queen’s University. In 1997. His play Suffer the Children won the Canadian Jewish Playwriting Award. In 2022, his novella Full Circle: Sherlock Holmes’s Greatest Challenge Ever, was published, based on his play Full Circle.
