Description

Playwrights Guild of Canada (PGC), with the support of Canada Summer Jobs 2025 funding, is offering a full-time temporary position with our organization. Playwrights Guild of Canada is a national arts service organization and a registered charity. The organization supports playwrights across the country and is a busy office environment requiring all employees to be dedicated team members, good communicators, organized and capable of managing multiple projects. The position is administrative and can be completed in a remote, on-site or hybrid environment. Public programming is in-person and online, to allow for participation from members in various regions across the country.  

The Program Administration Assistant will work closely with the PGC team and report to the Executive Director.  

The position will cover a variety of programming, administrative, and communications duties.  

Responsibilities will include: 

  • Programming - Assist the Executive Director with: 
  • Production research 
  • Outreach surveys 
  • Statistics collection 
  • Graphing statistics 
  • Communications - Assist the Communications Coordinator with: 
  • Newsletter preparation 
  • Website event postings 
  • Website updates 
  • Administrative - Assist the staff with: 
  • Office management 
  • Financial support tasks 
  • Membership processing 
  • Database updates 
  • Contracts details inputting 
  • Email management (sending, receiving, tracking and follow up) with stakeholders 
  • Cloud documents and filing (Office 365) 

The Program Administration Assistant will receive paid Orientation, training, supervision, feedback, and mentorship through the placement. The Program Administration Assistant will be trained to work with a variety of programs including online sales platforms (Shopify, Stripe), database (SalesForce), and communications (WordPress, MailChimp). The Program Administration Assistant will be required to work within Office 365 and should have knowledge and experience with Outlook, Word, Excel, and cloud files. The Program Administration Assistant will attend regular staff meetings, ad hoc meetings, and work with internal and external stakeholders.  

The ideal candidate will be enrolled in, or a graduate of, an arts administration, business or performing arts program. The position requires a high level of written and oral professional communication. The candidate must be able to manage several projects simultaneously and maintain a keen attention to detail and deadlines. A knowledge of Canadian theatre would be considered an asset. 

Details: 

All candidates must meet the criteria of the Canada Summer Jobs program to be eligible to apply for the position, including being between 15-30 years of age and must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have refugee status. International students are not eligible. 

Position start date:  est. July 7, 2025 

Position end date:  8 weeks 

Hourly wage: $19.00/hr. 

Hours: 35/wk.
