We are now accepting submissions for Fresh Meat 14!

Fresh Meat 14 runs October 15 to 18, 2025 in the Arts Court Studio.

Deadline to apply: July 4 2025 @ 11:45PM EST.

To qualify, your artistic practice must be based in Ottawa/Gatineau.
Projects must not have been written, workshopped, or produced prior to submitting.

What we’re looking for:

At Fresh Meat Fest, we exclusively program new work and seek out projects that are not only original and innovative, but for artists that are looking for a launching pad to help them create the next best show Ottawa has to offer.

We are looking for the freshest ideas that thrill and excite you and we’re especially interested in exploration of work that is new to you.

Past Fresh Meats have seen everything from theatre, dance, poetry, burlesque, clown, pantomime, performance art, standup, sketch comedy, storytelling, immersive experiences, and many more.

What we provide:

• A low-stakes / high-reward environment to test out 20 minutes of a new idea OR an installation space for you to transform;

• Four performances to live, generous audiences;

• A guaranteed artist fee;

• Free and subsidized rehearsal space;

• Dramaturgical support;

• A stage manager;

• Festival house plot and basic sound system;

• Archival video and photography;

• Optional: Reviews of your work, letters of support, opportunities to contribute to the Fresh Meat Blog

Fresh Meat Fest has been fostering Ottawa artists for over a decade and shows that have begun at Fresh Meat have gone on to have incredible runs at festival and venues across the country, racking up award after award along the way! Our artists leave the festival with new contacts and collaborators, materials needed to seek out funding and producing opportunities, and audiences eager to see what the future brings for their new favourite shows!
