Megan Coles
Megan Gail Coles is a second-generation Canadian artist, academic and mother of mixed heritage originally from the Great Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland/Ktaqmkuk. Her books include Squawk, Satched, Eating Habits of the Chronically Lonesome and Small Game Hunting at the Local Coward Gun Club, which has recently been optioned by The JDB Film Company with Megan attached as Executive Producer. Her work has been a finalist for the Scotiabank Giller prize, a Canada Reads contender and has twice won the BMO Winterset award. Megan is a graduate of Memorial University, the National Theatre School of Canada and UBC. Megan lives in St. John’s where she is the Artistic Director of Poverty Cove Theatre Company and a PhD student at Concordia University with a research focus in theatre and neuroscience. Her new fiction is forthcoming from Doubleday Canada in the fall of 2025. Megan’s completed plays include Our Eliza, The Battery, Squawk, Falling Trees and Grace. She is currently completing a play cycle in collaboration with Theatre Newfoundland and Labrador in Cow Head.
