Paul Ledoux
Paul Ledoux, one of Canada’s most produced creators of musical theatre, is known for provocative explorations of the relationship between politics and popular culture exemplified by the Dora and Chalmers Award-winning Fire (with David Young) and a musical about Canada’s most infamous automobile, The Bricklin (with Allen Cole).
Highlights of his 36 produced theatre titles include adaptations of The Secret Garden (Chalmers Award nomination) and Anne of Green Gables. Other much produced collaborations include Cheatin’ Hearts (David Smyth), Still Desire You (David Young & Melanie Doane), the Off-Broadway and Arazoni Award-winning Mamas and Papas musical Dream A Little Dream (“Papa” Denny Doherty) and Hot Flashes (John Roby). Current musical projects: Goodbye Paris (John Roby) and Pit Pony (Allen Cole).
Paul has written extensively for film, radio and TV, including CBC’s The Mystery Project and is the past Chairman of The Playwrights Union of Canada and The Montreal Playwright’s Workshop.
