Chris Coculuzzi is an independent producer, director, performer, and playwright. He is the co-author and editor of the Shakespeare’s Sports Canon series of five plays: Shakespeare’s Rugby Wars, Shakespeare’s World Cup, Shakespeare’s Gladiator Games, Shakespeare’s Comic Olympics, and Shakespeare’s NHL (National History League) which premiered at the Toronto Fringe Festivals 2001-05. Chris is also interested in exploring lesser known historical figures such as composer and opera singer Pauline Viardot (Piecing Together Pauline), the Jackson family during the Halifax Explosion (Quiet Courage), and Hilda Blake who was hanged in Manitoba in 1899 (The Murder of Mary Lane). Chris was born in Montreal, raised in Dartmouth, NS, and spent many years in Toronto before returning to Nova Scotia. Chris has also worked as an educator for both Toronto and Halifax boards of education.
