Alumnae’s celebrated FireWorks Festival of new plays is moving to the Main Stage with new dates: 23 April to 11 May 2025
Submissions are welcome from:
- Active members of Alumnae Theatre
- Writers whose plays have been presented in full, or in part, at Alumnae's New Ideas or FireWorks Festivals
- Members of the Women’s Caucus of the Playwrights Guild of Canada
- Graduates or students of playwrighting programs at University/College theatre departments
- Writers affiliated with a Canadian playwrights’ development centre
- Alumnae Theatre encourages submissions from Black writers, Indigenous writers, and writers of colour, from artists with disabilities, as well as playwrights from underrepresented regions.
Submission criteria:
- Unproduced, full-length scripts, or scripts that have undergone a substantial rewrite since their initial production
- Scripts that are production-ready
- Playwrights must be prepared to work with an assigned dramaturge throughout the process, leading to performance
- Playwrights will participate in the choosing of directors but cannot direct their own plays.
