This year, Theatre by the Bay is providing a groundbreaking series of theatre education programs for theatre artists of all experience levels. Featuring some of the biggest names in the Canadian theatre industry, Theatre by the Bay is proud to present: The Theatre Master Class series.

The Theatre Master Class Series will bring you six unique video programs – streamed through our website – right to your home. You’ll get to hear from highly successful theatre artists and receive top-of-the-line knowledge from our instructors. All six programs will begin streaming through our website this June.

Dramaturgy

What do dramaturgs even do? Two of Canada’s leading dramaturgs set out to answer these questions and de-mystify the discipline. In this Theatre Master Class, Brian and Joanna will explore the history of dramaturgy, outline how to work with a playwright on a new script, and give you the tools to support the play development process. Dramaturgy happens, whether you’re aware of it or not – and Brian and Joanna will teach you how to harness it’s use to strengthen the play.
