Nightwood Theatre presents a Rumble Theatre Online Experience
GOOD THINGS TO DO
September 27 – October 2, 2021
Conceived by Siminovitch Protegee Prize recipient Christine Quintana, in collaboration with Jessie Award winning collaborative artist and violinist Molly MacKinnon.
Sound and recorded music by Jessie Award winning composer Mishelle Cuttler and an original digital interface created by digital artist Sam MacKinnon.
Nightwood is thrilled to launch our 2021-22 season with Rumble Theatre’s imaginative and interactive production Good Things To Do. Blending an ethereal sonic landscape, solitary physical environment, and an unexpected use of technology, Good Things To Do invites participants to place themselves within a dreamscape in which they possess extraordinary powers. This wondrously immersive experience is a meditation on goodness, generosity, and the struggle to stay tender in a world that asks us to be hard.
“Good Things To Do offers a welcome asylum of tenderness” — Colin Thomas (colinthomas.ca)
“This is an interactive show truly designed with isolation in mind” — Georgia Straight
“Good Things To Do is technological poetry” — Kingston Theatre Alliance (Stephanie Fung)
Monday, September 27 to Saturday, October 2, 2021
2:00 pm ET, 5:30 pm ET and 8:00 pm ET daily – The box office will close one hour before each performance
There will be no shows on September 30th in honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Please note Good Things To Do should be experienced alone – you will have a solo, interactive journey and will not be heard or seen during the performance. If other folks in your household would like to join, the creators recommend they book separately and use their own device.
Good Things To Do runs 45 minutes long, with performances at set times – 2 pm ET (ideal for folks with school aged children), 5:30 pm ET (offering a soothing and stimulating transition from the work day) and 8 pm ET (for those eager to unwind at the end of the day).
This performance is best enjoyed with a laptop and a set of headphones. Because of the interactive nature of the performance, your attendance must be confirmed 15 minutes prior to the start. You will not be seen or heard, but every participant’s presence is significant to the performance.
Tickets are $5 (+HST) to reserve a spot with the option to make an additional donation to Nightwood Theatre. Due to the nature of this piece, there are only 12 spots available per show and time slots must be booked in advance. Please note that there are no ticket exchanges or returns.
Good Things To Do uses text on a screen for most of their storytelling. For folks unable to read the screen it is recommended to have a companion who can read the text to them as the current design is not compatible with screen readers. If you have any questions around access please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
