“Festival of Live Digital Art” featuring Marjorie Chan, Beau Dixon, Yvette Nolan and Christine Quintana

May 29 @ 12:00 am - June 13 @ 12:00 am EDT

The Festival of Live Digital Art (FOLDA) is produced by Spiderwebshow Performance.

FOLDA exists to support artists creating theatre in a digital age. Digital culture and its impact on other art forms moves quickly. From year to year FOLDA presents dynamic and changing answers to the question: Who are the professional artists creating live digital performance today and what are they up to?

FOLDA 2021 runs June 9th-13th, 2021

Events with PGC members include:

“Producing in a Pandemic”
Sat May 29, 2021
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM EDT
Join Theatre Passe Muraille’s Artistic Director Marjorie Chan and Managing Director Régine Cadet for a discussion about how they have continued to produce new work as a digital season and support artists in their community during the pandemic.

“Katharsis” by Yvette Nolan
Thursday, June 9 at 9:00PM EDT
A love letter to the empty theatre. Warriors returning from battle used to have to go through purification rituals before they could rejoin their communities. What ceremony will allow us to gather again? A specially commissioned short play, created for and filmed in an empty theatre, “Katharsis” is a marking of this period when our theatre is in waiting.

“Good Things To Do” co-created by Christine Quintana
Wednesday, June 9 at 10:00PM EST
Thursday, June 10 at 9:00PM EST
Friday, June 11 at 8:00PM EST
Saturday, June 12 at 2:00PM EST and 10:00PM EST
Sunday, June 13 at 4:00PM EST
Blending a dreamy sonic landscape, solitary physical environment, and an unexpected use of technology, Good Things to Do invites participants to place themselves within a dreamscape in which they possess extraordinary powers. This wondrously immersive experience is a meditation on goodness, generosity, and the struggle to stay tender in a world that asks us to be hard.

Innovation Residency
Sat Jun 12, 2021
4:00 PM – 5:00 PM EDT
The Innovation Residency is an opportunity for an established professional artist to experiment with an idea or concept that involves adding a new digital technology to their practice. Over the course of one week, early research and creation is supported in exploratory rehearsals and investigation. This year’s Innovation Resident is Beau Dixon, a multi-talented artist who has been impacting Canadian theatre as a playwright, actor, sound designer, musician, and musical director.
